Sexual Assault Charges Filed Against Retired Judge

Today, September 23, 2024, a grand jury indictment was unsealed against retired Fresno County Superior Court Judge Adolfo Corona (65, of Fresno). The grand jury indicted him on sexual assault charges. The unsealing took place this morning in Department 72 of the Fresno County Superior Court in front of the Honorable Joseph Kalashian (Ret.) of Tulare County. The Felony Indictment filed in the Superior Court alleges that on March 14, 2024, Adolfo Corona committed the following:
- One (1) Count of SEXUAL PENATRATION BY FORCE, FEAR, OR DURESS [Penal Code §289(a)(1);
- One (1) Count of SEXUAL BATTERY [Penal Code §243.4(e)(1)
If convicted of all charges, Corona faces a maximum of eight years in state prison and would be required to register as a sex offender.
Corona was notified of the charges and arraigned this morning. He entered a not guilty plea. His bail is set at $70,000. Judge Kalashian ordered Corona to post his bail today by 5 pm or turn himself in to the Fresno County Jail.
The next court date is scheduled for November 14th, 2024, in Department 72 at 1:30 pm, and a tentative trial date has been set for January 9th, 2025. The Honorable Joseph Kalashian has been assigned for all purposes.
The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office will have no further comment at the time.
