Today, on February 6, 2025, Manuel Ramirez Jr. (37, of Clovis) was sentenced to 27 years to life in state prison for the attempted murder of his estranged wife and for discharging a firearm. Ramirez’s sentence was handed down by Judge William Terrence of the Fresno County Superior Court after a plea deal was reached on December 10, 2024.
In the early hours of February 13, 2024, officers with the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to do a welfare check after receiving a call that Manuel Ramirez had just killed his wife. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim alive, but suffering from a gunshot wound to her face and immediately began rendering first aid. The victim was able to confirm that Ramirez shot her. The victim was later transported to Community Regional Medical Center where she was placed in a medically induced coma. Shortly thereafter, the Fresno Police Department received a call from a family member claiming Ramirez was at their residence. Officers arrived and Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
